I am the most irregular poster in the history of the internet, so I'm just gonna do three day's worth of this meme and be done with it, go to class, sip on some chai and do some writing stuff while waiting for the new ep of Supernatural.

Sharing is Caring: for one week, recommend & share.
Day one: a song.
Day two: a picture.
Day three: a book/ebook/fanfic.
Day four: a site.

Day five: a youtube clip.
Day six : a quote.
Day seven : whatever tickles your fancy.

5. EPIC Hey Jude singalong

6. Now will saying “yes” get you in trouble at times? Will saying “yes” lead you to doing some foolish things? Yes it will. But don’t be afraid to be a fool. Remember, you cannot be both young and wise. Young people who pretend to be wise to the ways of the world are mostly just cynics. Cynicism masquerades as wisdom, but it is the farthest thing from it. Because cynics don’t learn anything. Because cynicism is a self-imposed blindness, a rejection of the world because we are afraid it will hurt us or disappoint us. Cynics always say no. But saying “yes” begins things. Saying “yes” is how things grow. Saying “yes” leads to knowledge. “Yes” is for young people. So for as long as you have the strength to, say “yes.” ~Stephen Colbert

7. I just wanna say hi to my new LJ friends. Having new squee friends MAKES ME EXCITE. I HEART YOU ALL

So I finally got fed the fuck up with PvP shenanigans and I'm switching two of my toons over to the Durotan PvE server :| I ADORED the rare occasions wherein a Hordie would help me out with a quest rather than electing to gank me (a favor which I returned) and afterward we'd exchange a little /nod or /bow and be on our merry ways. But (and this is something I probably knew from the beginning) having a personal set of PvP rules, having principles about who I gank (read: people who are actually worth honor points to me, not lowbies, people who aren't questing so as I don't screw up their quest, people who aren't totally being douches) has done me very little good as, let's face it, this is the internet and as long as people have the opportunity to be anonymous dicks, they will take it. Actually functioning on honor doesn't mean very much at all.

So if anyone is on Durotan US (Alliance side), look up my 39 paladin Anaan, or soon my 80 Death Knight Dähaka is going to be transferring over, as soon as I tie up some loose ends. Or if you run across me, just give me a /poke and I'll help you kill mobs :)

I reminded myself of why I love visiting [ profile] ontd_political today with this article wherein the "author" is the illustration of what Stephen Colbert is parodying while berating Stephen for apparently representing one of the most dangerous trends in America right next to Islamic terrorism. I...have no words. Stephen couldn't have written this. At first I

but then I

In less wanktastic/lulzy news, someone made an Andrew Bird picspam that outlines his constant state of pure awesome, and my eyes are HUGE HEARTS ^____^ Do yourself are favor and check it out!

"It's common knowledge that the Decemberists' arch-nemesis, a certain Stephen Colbert, robbed guitarist Chris Funk of his rightful mantle of "Shreddiest in the West" during the much-touted Guitarmageddon of 2006. On April 27th, The Decemberists will be returning to Mr. Colbert's cable television program to redeem themselves. Or at least to have a pleasant interview with the host and play a song from their new LP, The Hazards of Love. It remains to be said whether or not Colin Meloy will command his legion twitter followers (125,000 and growing) against Mr Colbert's relatively weaker armada (a mere 75K or so) in a earth-scorching battle-to-end-all-battles. Pick your side and enlist by following either or"

ETA- Colin Meloy: still full of lulz.

Everyone catch the fake news hour and related programs last night? BECAUSE YOU SHOULD SEE. Vids cut to save your flist include Stephen's first segment with Conan O'Brien (OH TEH LOLS) and Jon politely beatin gthe bajeezus out of cuddly Evangelical homophobe Mike Huckabee with the logic stick over the subject of gay marriage. Goodtimes.

cut, cut, cut )
mezzanineview: ([TDS/TCR] I AM DOING THE NEWS HERE)
Also, hi, I forgot to say Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Americans :) I'm thankful for..well, pretty much everything. Everyone who's supportive of me even though I sometimes don't really deserve it, thankful for where I am and where I have been, thankful for music and smiles and friends. I hope everyone has a lovely holiday and doesn't overdo it on the stuffing (even though it's DELICIOUS).

Jon and Stephen wish you a happy Thanksgiving too <3

My Simpson-Wentz Baby Name is Staten Island Ariel.
Take The Simpson-Wentz Baby Name Generator today!
Created with Rum and Monkey's Name Generator Generator.

It's almost a little better than the real thing XD

Also, I had to dirty myself by watching Martha Stewart today, but I'll do anything for Stephen.

Yes we did

This is mostly for Jen, but come on in and check out the JOY.

Jeeeeen! I know I promised you screencaps from the Indecision 2008 special, but I haven't had time yet, so I'm doing that today or tomorrow. Instead, for the moment, I give you Jon & Stephen being overwhelmed as Jon announces that Obama is the winner <3 Stephen and his wee tears and his desperately trying to stay in character! Jon's faaaaace.

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert: Mock the Vote
cut, cut, cut )

I love this article a whole lot. Jon, in particular, is always very insightful while maintaining a balance of humor and seriousness, while Stephen's the counterpoint, offering little zingers and views into the political process that Jon has never got to see from the inside, like when Stephen ran for president. The vernacular is extremely easy to understand (refreshing considering this is the time of political campaigns, the biggest producers of BS other than Bill O'Reilly) and points are right on the spot. The article isn't for the tl;dr crowd, but it breaks down some of the political processes into nice digestible bits ;-) So I highly recommend the read!
mezzanineview: ([TDS/TCR] Stephen boxness)
omg, Stephen Colbert, how could I love you more?

Colbert got a little more pointed backstage in the media tent. Asked which actor he would cast as Republican presidential candidate John McCain, Colbert said, "[Don] Rickles, obviously, would be good. And maybe me for Sarah Palin, because I also have absolutely no business being vice president."
mezzanineview: ([TDS/TCR] a big deal)
This will be a bit scattered, as I've been intently following the presidential race since roughly the beginning of the year (after the primaries were done, basically), but haven't really posted about politics in a while.

The Daily Show and The Colbert Report honestly save me from insanity, not even kidding. In the midst of all the rhetoric and media coverage and attack ads, it's really refreshing to have a group at the back of the class launching spitballs at the whole process. It's rather odd that a pair of comedy shows are really the only ones doing their homework and cutting through all the bullshit and hype and talking points. And a little sad, too.

Vids under the cut--they're worth it. )

And now, the rules of the VP debates have been changed for Sarah Palin.

And on a lighter note, Stephen Colbert: Dance Machine.

Homeboy is fierce as HALE.

On a similar note, anyone here actually interested in talking politics? I'm afraid I'm obsessed at the mo', and it won't be going away any time soon, especially if when Obama is elected, so it'd be cool to chat with some peeps ^__^ Or alternately, make a politics filter so I'm not bugging the shit out of people when I post my millionth Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert clip ;-)

Okay, going back to watch moar MSNBC.

I want the writer's strike to end just as much as the next person, but this is some of the most hysterical stuff to come out of these guys EVER.

And no, I haven't forgotten about the meme, I just need to find time to scrounge up some good questions ^__^

Just a quickie:

Rolling Stone

One of my buddies at school saw this most awesome picture on the front of my binder, then proceeded to ask, quite sincerely, "Wait, why is Stephen Colbert eating an American Flag thread by thread?" ♥ LMAO

[mood| tired]

Geez, he can even blast through tongue twisters with ease *glow* Adds to his awesomeness. I went to Mission Viejo today and made a tee shirt in tribute of Stephen: navy blue shirt with red stars and white lettering: "T is for Truthiness". I'll try and get my brother's digital camera so I can post a pic ;-) I scurried down to Borders while I was in MV and was sorely disappointed that they didn't have Dispatches From The Edge, as if I needed more causes of withdrawal: I haven't had any Daily Show or Colbert Report for a week, Anderson's off for the week on AC 360, and House has been gone for a month! GAH! I'm not afraid to say I'm an addict and have problems ^__^ I needs my fix, bad.

In "real news", that fire in Southern California is fairly near where I live, and I say 'fairly' purely because I'm not exactly sure how far the site is from me, but we're still getting massive amounts of smoke/ash/dust/name whatever you want, and it's really starting to bug. Most local sports games have been cancelled and we weren't allowed to play during a short marching band practice yesterday (although we did play n' march today), but the competition in Riverside tomorrow is still on. We've been hustling to and fro around the school mostly because everybody's afraid of asphyxiating (oh, those OC drama kids :P) And it's a pretty surreal experience when you look through the tinted windows at your workplace and see a bright, neon red sun setting over the buildings. I wish I could've snapped a picture.

I found this recently: the Kilborn era! *le gasp* Here, he's still referred to as "the new guy", and the story makes some semblance of sense if you're on mushrooms, but Stephen is outrageously good-looking (and has fantastic hair XD) in this piece ^__^

Check-In: Stephen's tribute to the Irish
Includes Jon's line,"I've known this for many years: Stephen Colbert is... the Lord of the Dance."

Let me know if they don't work!

2. Stephen Colbert, The Colbert Report
Sure, he lacks functional cleavage and, in his hermetically sealed suits, flashes less skin than Diane Sawyer. But shame on you, liberal media, to tell us that an individual born without what you insist on calling a "vagina" can’t be as sexy as a Joy Behar or a Helen Thomas? Hard-left media arbiters of sexy, you’re on notice.

Ganked from This was news a while ago, but it's still very amusing (and very true XD)
