I'd been considering the possibility of her getting blown to pieces too, and kind of hoping against it because the unnecessary killing of ladyfolk in media gets to me sometimes, but dramatically it'd make sense if John and Sherlock had a huge row over Sherlock's potential nonreaction to the news. It gives their relationship room to grow, which is definitely my main concern in the show.
