WHAT A LAME ENDING FOR LUCIE AND EIGHT. WHAT THE HELL.
Okay, so let me get this straight. It's cool to have a Zygon take over and be your Auntie Pat and love you as a family member when you know that Auntie Pat had existed and loved you, but it's not okay when the Auntie Pat that existed and loved you was always the Zygon, from the beginning? OOOKAY.
This just sounds like they wanted to find an excuse to get rid of Lucie and get Eight a new companion D: The Doctor maintained the lie to protect her, absolutely, and Lucie has a right to feel betrayed, but her leaving seems such a rash thing. And it was only her fault that the Doctor was infallible in her eyes--above all, shouldn't he have been her friend? Not someone she places on an impossibly high pedestal? He's still the person that swoops in and saves worlds and dresses like a ponce and loves tea and jelly babies.
Primarily, I'm upset that there didn't seem to be any kind of build up for Lucie's leaving. With Charley, there was a whole multi-episode arc with her growing discontent at the Doctor's alienness, culminating at her inability to accept him being so unemotional at C'rizz's death. With Lucie, the way it played out, there should have at least been some dialogue about how she's maybe become dangerously blind to any faults the Doctor has. It was already evident that she trusted him with her life, but that's true of nearly all the companions the Doctor has ever had.
Grr. Listening to the extras with Paul McGann and Sheridan Smith being adorable together is cheering me up something fierce, but I WILL NOT FORGET THIS BETRAYAL, BIG FINISH *shakes fist*
The house was a bit empty and sad over the weekend because John and Sam were out, but they came back with French apple pie from Julian ^__^ I wish they would have asked me to come. It was probably snowing and it's been ages since I've seen snow.
Right, so 60 degrees is excuse enough for me to snuggle down with my Tom Baker scarf. I'm going to finish putting together some cards and gifts, stuff I need to send out :D At this rate, they'll be more like New Year's gifts, haha.
