(no subject)

Okiday so last night was the Emmys, and this means there was a verily excited Sara waiting to see The Daily Show and The Colbert Report clean house, like they should have. Perfectly reasonable, no?

The opening was AWESOME! I love Conan O'Brien so much! Not only were the random cameos completely awesome (House! And The Office!), but the fact that he did a modified version of "Ya Got Trouble" only added more brownie points in my book. And his telling winners not to comment on the Emmys' heaviness XD "Of course they are. They contain the shattered dreams of four other nominees." You, sir, win :-)

Okay, so the Best Comedy, Variety, or Musical Series category pops up, and I'm bouncing on my seat cuz both TDS and TCR are nominated (and I laughed at the clips they picked to represent each show). TDS wins! Yay! Jon was charming as ever! Yay! And ZOMFGWTF!!STEPHENKISSEDJON!! *dies of fangirlish glee* It was absolutely the most adorable thing I'd ever seen in my life, and I've seen some pretty. damn. cute.things in my life, such as this loverly specimen:

as opposed to Jon and Stephen

Okay, I'm biased, but I'm dead serious: these two fine gentlemen gave me a toothache XD And I don't have a clear cap of The Kiss, but my icon can qualify ^__^

Now, I'm happy Jon won for Best Series and Best Writing (OMG, TCR's bit with the bears was hysterical. God bless you, Stephen), but I did think TCR was more deserving this year. Jon said it best: "I think this year you actually made a terrible mistake, but thank you." And the shout out he gave to the Colbert folks after winning Best Writing was gloriously sweet as well. Bless you too, Jonny Stew.

But, then the heaviest blow to the lovely Mr. Colbert came in the form of the Best Solo Performance category. C'mon, it's a given; open/shut case; Stephen HAS to win, right?

Right?

No. It goes to one recently-whored-out pop star by the name of Barry Manilow. Let that sink in. Barry Manilow. Just...just, will you please die now, please?

Given, the Direction and Best Episode (or whatever the hell they were) awards they were nominated for don't matter to me (or to them, it might seem) much, but goddammit, Stephen should have won for Best Solo Performance!!!!! FUCK. Even losing to Hugh Jackman wouldn't have been terrible! Stephen: "Wolverine I could've lost to: he's got CLAWS for HANDS!" DAMN IT ALL TO HELL!!! AAARRRGGHH! I...no, fuck it. Just fuck it. I'm done with Barry effing Manilow.

*sigh* Okay, okay, I'm sorry, please don't run away. I'm done being mean and bitter and all cuss-like, I swear. It just seems so wrong that Stephen's show, not necessarily Stephen himself (he technically still gets an Emmy for his writing in The Daily Show staff), got totally snubbed. Are the Emmy people blind? Did they intentionally turn a blind eye to all of Colbert's brilliantness? Are conservatives still stinging from the total ass-pounding (sorry, promise that was the last cuss) Stephen gave the Bush Administration at the 2006 White House Correspondents' Dinner, and this was extremely late backlash? In the immortal lyrics of Jesus Christ Superstar, "What's the Buzz?" Really, tell me what's-a happening?

Whew, but I'm so glad I didn't turn the Emmys off just yet (though I should have, the bastards). Jon and Stephen's presentation alone totally made the night worth the suffering (on behalf of Stephen). "Good evening, Godless sodomites." Utter brilliance. I worship you guys. At least the audience was a right side more savvy to their combined awesomeness than certain bastards awards guilds *glare*, and they were so adorable! Between Stephen's faux (real?) despair over losing, his cracking voice, the groping, and Stephen's all-around adorableness (gosh, I use that word alot; and this isn't saying Jon wasn't achingly cute, too ^__^) got the best reaction from the crowd (better than Conan!), and was sure to please raving lunatic fangirls such as yours truly. This plus the whole Geraldo saga was such an unbelievable fan service that they will always have my love and respect, because, yes, I do love them for more than the fact that they are very sexy (in that awesome "That's right, we're over 40, bitches" way). Intelligence is sexay ^__~ I highly recommend both shows if you haven't already seen them *points in the direction of YouTube* [warning] Consumption not recommended for the sad, closed-minded pricks of the world. Thank you.

Oh yeah, one more thing.
