This sort of thing is nothing new. I've been hearing shoot Obama talks for ages, as well as shoot Bush back in the day. In fact, I remembered that Bush's assassination was justified by a "Nostradamus prophecy."
true, but I don't ever recall any Democratic representatives implying Bush was anything other than an idiot, but I gotta say, currently, conservatives in power are doing a tad more to stir up negative sentiment. Dangerous levels, hun.
I remember the implied dictatorial ambitions that the Dems, still sore after narrowly losing the 2000 election, would attribute to W as he rode to an approval rating in the 90%s post 9-11 and how it was all part of his Xanatos plot to seize ultimate lifetime power. But the Democrats are honorable men, so are they all honorable men.
From this came the rallying cry of Impeach Bush! Run him out of office!
Coupled with this were people unearthing "lost Nostradamus prophecies" of Bush being assassinated, noting similarities between him and McKinley, I believe it was.
This all peaked on my personal disgust charts when he had a colonoscopy and they discovered polyps and LiveJournal ignited with OH I HOPE HE HAS CANCER, which was met with varying degrees of reaction from cheering to disgust.
Okay, look, this is NOT turning into a Which Is Worse debate, because they're both deplorable. I just happen to be more concerned for Obama because of the racial underlying of a LOT of the crazies who think he's going to do a "Socialist takeover of America" or what ever misrepresented ideology is being shoveled out to people who don't bother to read on what they really are. I would not wish death/cancer/political failure on anyone because I'm not a horrible person & political failure usually means shit isn't getting done that needs to get done. I don't speak for anyone but me.

My point is, it's the exact same rhetoric, just different people saying it.
