That makes me so angry to hear!

Having seen the movie, I can say there's only a couple of scenes that people could really find fault with, in terms of content, but surely all that should mean is a high rating and the same sort of release the rest of us are getting?

It's such a fantastic movie that everyone should get to see it. And everyone probably should, because it's such a beautiful story.

I really do want to see it VERY badly, but unfortunately I guess homosexuals in American cinema either need to be omgtragic-trying-to-live-straight-lives (Brokeback Mountain) or used for laughs. No unrepentant gay relationships allowed in America, kthx.

It's really fucking ridiculous. I can't see that it's a money issue- it's been released over here with seemingly no trouble at all and we're in the same sort of situation economy-wise.

I just don't understand it, to be honest. Surely it should be up to the public whether they choose to go and see it or not, not up to some random people censoring it?

The movie is just really good. It's more about a dude who's a criminal than a dude who's gay, you know? Honestly, there is one graphic scene, which is hardly graphic at all compared to many het sex scenes I've seen. I supposed the biggest 'problem' with the film is that it's unapologetic about the story, which is exactly how it should be.

It makes me really ragey to hear about this. It's like when I was bemoaning the fact A Single Man had a short release over hear because of it being an indie film (as is the way with all indie movies, unless they suddenly do ridiculously well at the box office) but when I heard that people in the States were mostly only about to see it in tiny artsy cinemas? I thought that was just really, really dumb.

Surely the world should be at a place where they can't avoid showing movies like this? Ugh, I hate the world sometimes. And I really, really hope you get to see it somehow.

I hate it I hate it I hate it. I love the US but it can be so strange and unknowable sometimes.

uhh, what the actual fuck? i wonder if this is a money issue or a homophobia thing. cos like, post-brokeback mountain, you wouldn't think it was such a big deal to put gay movies in theatres. & even though there's explicit sexuality, it's not graphically pornographic, you know? & there's a lot more gazing longingly at each other than there is making out on the couch. so maybe it's money. but so many people wanna watch this, & it's got two pretty big actors in it, so i don't get why it would be difficult to release. maybe i don't understand the movie industry.

Probably a mixture of the two--who's the distributing company anyway? If the recession in America is impacting them in any way, it would lean toward delayed/limited release, but then again, we have huge ass movie like Avatar and Ironman being released, and even godawful, worthless parody movies (Epic Movie and similar ones) and, like, Tyler Perry films are getting a venue. If film companies can afford to release those movies and not one movie with a gay relationship at the center, I don't know what to think of that.
