[music|XO--Fall Out Boy, From Under the Cork Tree]

Meme time! Ganked from [livejournal.com profile] anindeliblemark. Swear, I'll post my concert report on The Decemberists + La Phil soon!

Without looking at the questions below, list your top 10 favorite artists.

1. The Beatles
2. My Chemical Romance
3. Fall Out Boy
4. The Decemberists
5. The Killers
6. Panic! at the Disco
7. Death Cab For Cutie
8. Circa Survive
9. Gym Class Heroes
10. Muse

Q: What was the first song you ever heard by #2 [My Chemical Romance]?
A: "Helena", and I hated it. My brother brought it home and said, "Man, you gotta listen to these guys, Sara." And I was a total music snob at that point so I couldn't stand them. Fastforward a couple months to "Welcome to the Black Parade" and I'm hooked.

Q: What is your favorite album of #6 [Panic! at the Disco]?
A: Well, their new album isn't out for a while now, so I'll say "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out", but I did enjoy the live sessions they did for iTunes.

Q: What is your favorite Lyric of #7 [Death Cab For Cutie]?
A: The first four lines or so of "Brothers on a Hotel Bed": "You may tire of me as our December sun is setting because I'm not who I used to be/No longer easy on the eyes but these wrinkles masterfully disguise/The youthful boy below who turned your way and saw/Something he was not looking for: both a beginning and an end"

Q: What is your favorite song by #9 [Gym Class Heroes]?
A: "Shoot Down The Stars", hands down. It's gorgeous and inspiring and pretty much the song I listen to when I need a self-esteem boost.

Q: Is there a song of #1 that makes you sad [The Beatles]?
A: "For No One" <--- most depressing break up song ever. Aside from the lyrics, Paul McCartney's got the most melancholic voice in the history of the universe.

Q: What is your favorite song by #8 [Circa Survive]?
A: "The Difference Between Medicine and Poison is in the Dose"

Q: What is your favorite song by #10 [Muse]?
A: "Knights of Cydonia". It's so damn intense, and a perfect driving song ^__^

Q: What is your favorite album by #8 [Circa Survive]?
A: "Juturna"

Q: How did you get into #5 [The Killers]?
A: The way I suppose a ton of people got into The Killers: "Mr. Brightside".

Q: What is your favorite song by #4 [The Decemberists]?
A: Oh that's just mean. Seriously. It's like picking which limb I want to cut off. *sigh* Fine. I really, really, really love "The Mariner's Revenge Song", but I'm, also in love with "Odalisque", and "On the Bus Mall". What's that you say? That's three songs, not one? Well STFU; you try narrowing it down to one.

Q: Who is your favorite band member of #1 [The Beatles]?
A: I'd say John Lennon.

Q: What is a good memory concerning #4 [The Decemberists]?
A: Seeing them live at the Hollywood Bowl, backed by the LA Philharmonic Orchestra ^__^ I would say best concert ever, but I've been saying that a lot lately ;-)

Q: What does #9 remind you of [Gym Class Heroes]?
A: Fall Out Boy, if only because they signed GCH to their label.

Q: Is there a song by #3 that makes you sad [Fall Out Boy]?
A: Hmmm, all the songs are pretty angsty, but sound very pop/punk. In any case "I've Got A Dark Alley..." off From Under the Cork Tree makes me pretty sad.

Q: What is your favorite song of #1 [The Beatles]?
A: The acoustic version of "Across the Universe" off of "Let it Be...Naked".

Q: How did you become a fan of #7 [Death Cab For Cutie]?
A: I heard a song of theirs (I think it was "Marching Bands of Manhatten") on a fanmix for House and I decided to check them out.

Q: What do you like to do while listening to #6 [Panic! at the Disco]?
A: I love singing and driving to these guys; the music is so damn catchy and fast most of the time that it works out with driving very well.

Q: Which of the 10 has influenced you the most?
A: I would say My Chemical Romance, because I probably wouldn't have got down from my musical high horse and got into those others bands (sans The Decemberists and The Beatles) if it weren't for "The Black Parade"

Q: Which artist makes you the most happy?
A: Gotta be Fall Out Boy. They're so goddamn infectious, but once I got into them I could pick out the layering and awesome chord structures set up in a good number of their songs. And Patrick Stump may be or is close to being the most awesome person on the face of the planet, although he has to fight Gerard Way for the title ^__^

Q: Which artist makes you the most sad?
A: Death Cab For Cutie, definitely. 99.99994728% of their songs are muy depressivo.

Q: Which artist makes the best dance music?
A: Fall Out Boy, although I love to thrash about to My Chem.

Q: Which artist have you liked the longest?
A: The Beatles

Q: Which artist have you liked the shortest?
A: Muse

Q: Are there any artists you will still be listening to in 20 years?
A: I'm hoping they'll all stick around, but definitely the first five.

Q: What are you listening to now?
A: Fall Out Boy. I recently started listening to the song "XO" a ton.
