So anyone here up for discussion of last night's Supernatural? Acceptable forms of discussion are: squee, OMG, and holding each other while shaking and crying and rocking back and forth.
From the moment the Castiel appeared in the dream, I knew it had to be bad news. He was scared. Angels don't get scared, at least all but the slightly agnostic angel Castiel was becoming. And yes, "was" is the right verb ;__;
I found it kind of hilarious that Jimmy was so hungry after he woke up. Isn't it kind of fitting though? While demons possess a body, they indulge in all kinds of behavior, be it something as innocent as eating or going all the way up to sex & violence and beyond, whereas with Castiel, he just submerged the vessel's urge to eat. Evil = indulgence, Good (in the religious sense) = repression? SUBTLE :P As always, Supernatural interprets all things mythological (including religion) in its own way.
And seriously, how amazing was Misha Collins in this episode? Jimmy was worlds apart from Castiel, even just the way he moved and formed facial expressions. My heart broke for him and his family. Especially the scene at the dinner table after he comes back. His daughter asks if he's going to say grace, and he starts tearing up. Oh ;__;
Jimmy's whole journey actually seems to be a metaphor for Sam's. In doing what he believed to be the right thing (following Castiel's orders, accepting that the Heavenly Host has work for him), he gains power and alienates his family at the same time. His wife tells him to take the psych pills they got for him; he's insane, Sam's insane, everyone's hurting.
If not for Dean's alarm at not having Castiel around and Sam's subplot with the demon blood addiction, I wouldn't have really noticed the boys in the episode, lol. Well, actually, no, I take that back, because Castiel laying down the law with Dean at the end killed me in the worst way possible. It seems that "I pulled you from Hell, I can throw you back in" Castiel is back, whether because he needs to act emotionless to keep Heaven off his back or because after Heaven forcibly took him back he was brainwashed, I can't say.
Question though: after Jimmy gets shot and begs Castiel to take his body instead of Claire's, does that mean Jimmy's body is healed and he's still alive in there? Or is Jimmy dead and the vessel is fully Castiel?
The promo for the last two episodes of the season...I can't promise that they won't break me completely. Unless Sam does something to fix things between him and Dean before the end of the season, I don't know if things can ever be okay again.
Dean is echoing John, telling Sam if he walks out the door, he doesn't ever want to see him again. In Jump The Shark, he told Sam that he's more like John than he'd ever be, but it clearly wasn't a complement. I'm inclined to believe this is Dean subconsciously saying how much he actually hates his dad.
Of course, it appears Sam does walk out on him, with Ruby at his side, and Dean's finally hit rock bottom. I do realize that a lot of this season has been about Dean and his man pain, but jesus tapdancing christ, can someone give the poor guy a hug? He's lost Sam, he's lost Dad, he's lost Castiel, and we can't see Bobby in the promo (I think). HE MIGHT HAVE LOST BOBBY TOO. I think this leads to the whole giving himself to Heaven bit in the promo. He hasn't got anything left to lose, unless the Impala gets fucked up again somehow, which would just be cruel.
It also speaks volumes about how little Dean cares anymore; if he hasn't got Sam, he hasn't got anything to fight for. There's so much resignation in his voice when he gives himself over; he's probably thinking he might as well just give in and be Heaven's tool, because that's what hes been his entire life. Dad's blunt instrument, Heaven's hammer, doesn't make much difference to him, which is terrifying in its implication. Dean has zero fight left in him.

So, yes, I think Jimmy is still alive in there, but it sounds like he may never get control of his own body again. He'll forever be a passenger.
These next two episodes are going to kill me. Sam is gone. Dean's completely destroyed...and I remember thinking last year that Dean going to hell was the absolute worse thing they could put him through...how naive I was!

I’ve never been here before but I thought I’d comment anyway, I hope that’s ok!
Did you notice the small flinch dean had in reaction to Sam right after he caught him drinking? When he went to take out that demon, for a split second he thought Sam was going after him!!
That little element just said so much to me because we know these boys as being so in sync. I mean last week there were no words for the discussion that a game of rock paper scissors settled, and then this week their so far detached from each other!! Oh boy’s and their complexities!!

And it's okay, you can come by whenever :) I need more SPN flisters, tbh.
I didn't when I was watching (pretty much cuz I was ~*dazzled*~ by Claire!Castiel, lol) but watching it again, I hurt even more, seeing Dean react like that D: Poor boys, they've lost pretty much all their trust in each other ;__;

I'm assuming he's alive but it begs the question why an angel couldn't just use a dead body.
