my initial emotions on The Waters of Mars

IF A BUBBLY, LOVELY MAN COULD REPRESENT HOW I'M FEELING ABOUT DOCTOR WHO (IN GENERAL) RIGHT NOW, IT WOULD BE JOHN BARROWMAN IN THIS ANI.

Fandom life is being so good to me :)

The Waters of Mars = quite possibly the best episode in the series. In simplest terms, I felt sick the whole time, but I couldn't stop myself from watching. Just...it was really good and absolutely devastating. This is the kind of writing that makes RTD awesome. More reactions later, when I've sorted out the Doctor (the Doctor, oh my god, the Doctor.)

I don't follow the dr. who fandom at all but that gif makes me happy. not just cause it's two men kissing but really, society needs more two men, less two women

[identity profile] vinylsigns.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Even better, the one on the right is straight up gay and the one on the left is just plain straight (with a side of kissing guys, usually in character) :D Huzzah for secure sexualities.

And I completely agree, two men kissing has such an awful stigma, compared to the panty wetting that everyone gets up to with female/female kissing. More acceptance please ;__;

[identity profile] selphiebooyaka.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
I love it

at the same time I do wish two women was taken ~more seriously than just as an attempt to arouse men.

I'm mostly taking out my frustration on the ~scandalous threesome that was on Gossip Girl. For the record, I don't watch gossip girl, but I did watch that clip. lkdsglj every cliche in one scene.

[identity profile] vinylsigns.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Absolutely right, bb :)

I tried to avoid everything there was to deal with that threesome business, mainly because when I'm watching Supernatural on that channel, we're bombarded with those ads, so even if I wasn't going to watch it before, I was getting majorly pissed off.

[identity profile] selphiebooyaka.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
any threesome that includes Hilary Duff = instant snoozefest.

~spoilery comment~
(just a warning for anyone who's trying to avoid spoilers!)

I told myself I was bored of Doctor Who and was going to stop watching.

...

I WAS SO WRONG. Came in "Just for five minutes" at the family's beckoning, didn't leave until the end, and that's after not sitting through a full episode with a tiny, tiny handful of exceptions since the end of season three.

TIMING COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER. BROKEN MESSED UP BATSHIT CRAZY GOD COMPLEX DOCTOR = DO WANT. NOW. NOW. THE CLOSER IN PROXIMITY TO THE MASTER THE BETTER.

[identity profile] vinylsigns.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
I FUCKING KNOW RIGHT? I WAS AS APPRECIATIVE AND DO WANT AS I WAS ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIED DDD: HUBRIS HAS ALWAYS BEEN A PART OF THE TENTH DOCTOR, BUT THIS WAS LIKE TEN'S EGO ON STEROIDS.

CRAZY!DOCTOR/MASTER, OHFUCK. DOWANTDOWANTDOWANT.

I BELIEVE IT WAS THE JOKER WHO SAID, "MADNESS IS LIKE GRAVITY. ALL YOU NEED IS A LITTLE PUSH."

[identity profile] emerald-embers.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
CRAZY!DOCTOR/MASTER <- FFFFFF all I can think of is that one AMAZING fic (that's since been flocked, FFFFFFFFFFF WHY GOD WHY) and that one, that one line, "He wonders when he'll start to hear the drumming too" and ASLFJADSKLJFALSDJFALS.

*BRAIN EXPLODES*

Yes, it was indeed the Joker. Who... I feel guilty about because I DIDN'T find him enthralling and exciting and interesting purely because, much like Tyler Durden in Fight Club, everything he said I couldn't help but think "... yes, and?".

I think I may have read that one? Because the line sounds vaguely familiar, fffffdsfalsdkjhva;ufkjn <3

I'm just still in utter shock that we're getting pure, undiluted dark!Doctor. Fuck me, that is amazing. We got flashes in "The Runaway Bride" and "The Family of Blood", in small portions, but this is a whole new ballgame! Oh man, the Master is going to be beyond gleeful when he sinks his claws in :D

[identity profile] lucia-tanaka.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
I'm a bitch who don't recognize. Who is that?

Man, I haven't watched DW since.... Uh. Rose left, I think. Though I did watch the Master Trilogy because holy crap dude ♥

ETA: OH SHIT IT'S JOHN SIMM OMG OMG OMG

ETA2: wait, ew, wtf happened to his hair?

THAT'S FUCKING RIGHT, THE MASTER IS BACK. HBIC, HERE TO MESS WITH THE DOCTOR'S HEAD SOME MORE.

omg I am on overload :DDD Did you happen to see today's? Because if you like dark!Doctor, even in the slightest, this is a goldmine.

EDIT: I've no clue. speculation suggests Lucy Saxon has something to do with his reappearance, but the details on David's final story are pretty under lock and key

... Okay. I'll probably end up DLing Ten's last eps if the Master shows up. I was rooting for his crazy ass in the master Trilogy. :3 Fucking Tinkerbell Jesus Doctor.

[identity profile] vinylsigns.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Fuck RTD for the Tinkerbell Jesus Doctor, seriously. I held my stock in the show because I knew Donna would be amazing next series (and I was right, huzzah), but that shit had me cringing so hard.

Let me pull up the preview for you

the cackle. YESSSSSSSS \o/

[identity profile] rainrockstar.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
omggggggggggggg

Earlier today, I d/led the ep and watched like one minute before I realized I just wasn't in the mood, which has never really happened with DW. Then I read spoilers (well, about the Christmas ep previews rather than this ep itself) and was like OMG WATCHING and I ended up really loving this one. It was so well done and actually intense and nnngh -- love.

ALSO DONNA. AND OOD. AND THE MOTHERFUCKIN' MASTER. JOHN SIMM ILU SO SO MUCH. WANT NOW.

[identity profile] vinylsigns.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
Whee, I'm glad you were coaxed into watching/ended up really digging it :) Our dear Doctor is a MESS and I love it! I just hope he rediscovers the non-screwed up part of himself before he goes, yanno? Just one more shiny happy Doctor smile for the road ;__;

DONNA EEEEEEEEEEE <3 HER AND SIMM!MASTER IN THE SAME EPISODE, THE UNIVERSE MAY NEVER RECOVER FROM THE AWESOME

[identity profile] rainrockstar.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
Me too. :) I usually am clamoring to watch them asap so it was weird not feeling that way with this one but I'm glad I didn't wait too long! It was worth it. And I totally agree. This episode actually made me sad again about the departure of Ten. I mean, I love David Tennant, but I had come to terms with it by the end of s4 because I'm interested to see how Eleven is and I recognize it's time to move on. I am going to miss Ten and his fabulous hair, though, damnit.

I KNOWWWW!!! I'M SO EXCITED. I LOVE THEM BOTH SO MUCH. I would like them to be in every episode forever. And lol I just realized I skipped my DW folder when I was re-uploading icons. Must fix.

i have never watched doctor who in my life, ever

i don't even know what it's about, really

hahaha, something about timelords & daleks?

buuuut, for some reason, everyone's enthusiasm is infectious, & a couple of my housemates are into it, so i kind of want to give it a go, this time.

[identity profile] vinylsigns.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
*claps excitedly* Oooh! Oooh! I can help you! EEEE, you just made me go :DDDDD

haha, the history of it is lengthy, to say the least, but everyone who got into it recently has done it through the revived series in 2005 XD Basically, a Time Lord named the Doctor travels through space & time with companions he picks up along the way. The premise is so simple, but has such MASSIVE potential :) You do get to meet historical figures along the way, and get some famous guest stars (Simon Pegg!!! :D) and the acting is generally quite good!

The writing can be a bit campy at times, and have lulzy monsters, but 1) it's a family show--with some notable exceptions, especially the most recent ep, where it's gotten dark.-- 2) I really like camp, 3) it's equally as epic.

I can recommend starting with Christopher Eccleston's Doctor, since it's the beginning of the revived series and introduces a lot of the characters you'll need to know, and the overall storyarc of the show is simplified for old fans as well as new, so you're not going to be feeling lost :) The first ep is called "Rose".

Do you have a mate you can borrow the episodes from? If not, I can upload, or point you in the right direction of lower quality online streamers.

This reminds me, I've yet to watch the Minchin links you so generously provided! Excuuuuse me *runs off to do that*

I also can't make an entry until I've watched it again but I got this little glow-in-the-dark Doctor Who notebook the other day and I'm going to use it to make notes.

I HAVE STOLEN YOUR MASTER GIF.

[identity profile] vinylsigns.livejournal.com 2009-11-16 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
omg is it shaped like a TARDIS??? :D

MASTER OMGOMGOMG I WILL NEVER STOP FLAILING. DUDE, CRAZY!DOCTOR AND MASTER WILL BE IN CLOSE PROXIMITY SOON :O
