Mar. 6th, 2005 02:38 pmWell, I haven't updated in a while, so here it goes: I felt so sure we were ready for our trial on Stalin (I was a defense lawyer, God help me), but we were massacred. It may have been the jury's close-mindedness, but still, I don't think he was a monster like, say, Hitler. The trial may have changed my views on him for good, at least. But for now, I won't expand. I was all bent out of shape for a while, but I feel better after talking it over with my teacher.
Yesterday, I went on the bus for the trip to the Honor band/orchestra concerts. Well, all nine (or so) of us. Let's see, it was me, Naomi, Cathrine, Ashley, Athalia, Dain, Sandy, Missy (an orchestra person), and the Cabodi Child (Andrew). That's all I can remember anyway. Mr. Jackson rode with us as well, trying to find new and more forceful ways to avoid getting his picture taken (continually) by Athalia. The Honor Band concert itself was nice, but lacked any punch to it. The high school band in particular sounded awesome, but was pretty quiet until the march that closed their segment ("THAT'S MY BROTHER!!!!" I shouted as the high school band took its bow, Mr. Jackson giving me a weird look).
Afterwards, we hit the Irvine Spectrum for a little dinner at Red Robin (excellent place, go there if you ever are going to have a sitdown meal at the spectrum), and then some gaming fun at Dave & Busters. Eric, Harrison, Stacey, Marshall, Joey, Bryce, and Brett also cruised the spectrum after their performance, and some were playing games with us too. While Sandy and I (we shared a token card) were playing a shooting game, Mr. Jackson watched on in horrified fascination ("Geez, Sara, you're VICIOUS!" he says to me, and I also earned colorful adjectives like "killer" and "brutalitarian". Later he told John never to let me get a hold of a gun). I even got him to play that very game along with me *evil laugh*
The Honor Orchestra concert wasn't by any means bad, but it wan't better than the band concert. Plus, the middle school orchestra played a suite that our own orchestra played last year (that being "Capriccio Espangol"), so that was thoroughly awesome. When we were back at the band room, John was sent to retrieve me, but not before we stayed and experienced some hilarity with Matt Adamson and Kyle Cabodi when they were picking up their respective brothers.
So today, I'm stuck with homework while my dad, brother, and grandma head for the Valley to spend the day at the fair. Still, the peace and quiet I get is a nice trade off.
Cheers.
