OMB OMB GUYS! FIRST PEEK AT AN ENTIRE SONG FROM THE SWEENEY TODD MOVIE!!! *FLAILLLLLL* AND THE ONE THAT I DIDN'T WANT THEM TO SCREW UP, AND THEY DID IT SO BEAUTIFULLY!!! THIS PLEASES ME GREATLY!!! EXCLAMATION POINT TIMES THREE!!!

HERE, HAVE SOME AWESOME )

No, really, listen to that clip. JOHNNY DEPP SINGING, PEOPLE. OH MAN.

If you've never heard/seen Sweeney Todd A) shame on you, and B) do yourself a favor and if it's coming your way? Get tickets. Seriously. It's pretty much my favorite musical ever next to Phantom of the Opera, what? There's sex, violence, murder, implied rape, suicide attempts, cannibalism, among many, many other questionable things, and that's absolutely wonderful that that can all be found in a musical. Very adult, very black humor, very awesome.

That particular song in that clip was my favorite in the whole work, from the second act (if you're going by the stage version), and if you're wondering what's going on it goes thusly (keeping the spoilers to a minimum). Sweeney Todd is an angry, angry, vengeful man. Anthony is kind of in love with his (Todd's) daughter, Johanna, but doesn't know it's Todd's daughter. Todd hasn't seen Johanna in fifteen years because he was imprisoned for absolutely nothing. So the first singing voice you hear is Anthony mooning over Johanna, then Johnny Sweeney croons ever-so-sweetly about her while slitting the throats of his customers in his barber shop. That's all the sputtering of blood onscreen and laughing in the audience you hear :D

If anyone wants them, downloads of the same song, different casts ^__^

Johanna, the version in the above youtube video. Johnny Depp singing ^__^ His voice is thin, but very pretty <3

Johanna, 1979 original Broadway cast, featuring a VERY YOUNG Victor Garber as Anthony ♥♥♥ Did I mention the original cast had Angela Lansbury in it? Awesomeness, people.

Johanna, 2005 Broadway revival cast, which has no sound effects! *yay!* better singing! *yay* actual emotion! *yay!* and minimalist, stripped down orchestrations! *yay!* I saw this cast twice, oh gosh, soo soo gooooood ^_____^

Johanna, version made with the New York Philharmonic, with George Hearn (yes I am a musical theater nut, what of it?) as Sweeney *loves to death* And he has a much deeper voice than all the other Sweeneys.

And if anyone wanted the full original or revival cast recordings, I wouldn't say no to putting them up. *cough*

SO EXCITED FOR THIS TO COME OUT!

*EXPLODES INTO A MILLION STARS OF HAPPINESS*
